When Opportunity Knocks
Opportunity is everywhere.
Sometimes you have to go out and create it.
Sometimes it comes to you. Knocking, kicking, and pounding on your door.
I was never open to new opportunities. Opportunity scares me. What if I fail? What happens if the opportunity doesn't pan out? What if people talk about me? What if, what if......
WHAT IF IT WORKS!?
Do you struggle with thinking you aren't good enough to do something, yet you never even attempt to do it in the first place? I do... I mean, DID. And WHEN I did... I failed at it. I didn't even give it a chance to be a good opportunity.
Let's take weightloss for example. Before July 2013, I never FULLY committed myself or dove in head first with the opportunity to do it. I would try for a week... sometimes a couple days, but I always gave up when it got hard. Then I would say it was a silly idea, a horrible opportunity.
When that opportunity came KNOCKING, I answered. And boy, am I glad I did. I have learned so much about health and nutrition over the past year. But the main one that sticks out is that this OPPORTUNITY helped me find my PASSION.
My passion for fitness.
My passion for nutrition.
My passion for bettering my life and the lives of my family.
My passion for sharing this and HELPING others.
I remember years ago, right after my husband and I got engaged. I woke up early one morning getting ready for work. As always I turned my TV on in my room to listen to the news as I got dressed. Except, the news wasn't on... an infomercial for Slim in 6 was on. It was a program that lasted 6 weeks and promised great results if you followed the meal plan and the workouts. It was pay day.... and I really wanted to look HOT for my wedding so I wrote the 800 number down as I ran out the door that morning and called on my way to work to place my order. I loved that BEACHBODY program! I lost 20 lbs and felt and looked great for my wedding and honeymoon. I loved working out and even then thought about becoming a trainer or something. I never thought that years later I would have the opportunity to get back into this industry. But here I am. No, I am not a trainer and I am not a nutritionist. I am not a professional at anything. But I know what motivated me, and I am here to help others find the right tools to work for them and then motivate and cheer them on.
This doesn't only apply to my journey with health and fitness, however, there have been many opportunities that have come my way that a few years ago I would have
INSTANTLY said a huge, giant NO to.
Throughout my past year, I have also made big strides in my faith and my relationship with God. I have spent lots of time learning about His purpose for my life, and His confidence in me. So if He doesn't doubt me, then why should I? Some of these opportunities have been -
- Starting this blog
- Making a "like" page on Facebook (www.facebook.com/fitmomjoslin)
- Being more intentional about helping others
- Writing for another blog on a health and nutrition website
- Finding an illustrator for my children's book
- And more..... (some in the works ;-) )
Have you ignored the opportunities in your life? Think long and hard, sometimes the opportunities are whispered in your ear... sometimes you have to seek them out... sometimes the door to your insecurities gets KICKED IN and opportunities fall into your lap. What matters is how you handle them from there. Are you going to put it on a shelf and let that opportunity get dusty? Are you going to play with the notion of seizing it? Or are you going to take the reins and give it a healthy shot of being a GOOD thing in your life?
Your opportunities have ripple effects. One can lead to another and another. Just make good decisions and put your heart into it. Good things are coming. I can just FEEL it!
What opportunity are you going to say YES to today?
